New Brunswick Broadcasting Co., Limited was approved by the CRTC in 2000 to operate a new adult contemporary music format in Saint John. The station began broadcasting in 2001 as an Adult Contemporary station and later changed to adult top 40 in 2003. Its main competitor is CIOK-FM, which switched to hot AC in 2009. Other competitors include CIBX-FM and CIHI-FM. Since 2011, the station has incorporated more rhythmic contemporary content, remaining a Canadian hot adult contemporary reporter per Mediabase and Nielsen BDS.
